In the original Retroblox announcements, the Atari 2600 module (with potential support for 7800) was listed as one of the first 5 modules and one of the modules appeared to be for the NeoGeo AES in one of the pictures.

Now, the Polymega page shows the other 4 modules (NES, Sega Genesis, TG-16, and SNES) and there’s no word on the Atari 2600/7800 module. Is it still in the works for launch or waiting for more work to enable 7800 support?

Yeah, I was curious about this as well.

I’m starting to be concerned that the Ataribox is the cause of the Retroblox -> Polymega snafu. It would explain the sudden lack of Atari 2600/7800 support and the name change.

I hope the theory is wrong because Atari 2600 VCS support is a major factor in my wanting a Polymega.

The Polymega team have just said that there are no legal issues holding the project back. So does that mean that the Atari VCS 2600 element module is still on track ?

I’m guessing it comes down to a couple things..

    – They probably want to announce it as supporting the 7800 as well as the 2600, but still working out the kinks to having full 7800 support (encryption, high score cart compatibility, etc.)

    – The 2600 and 7800 have an extensive combined library of released titles, as well as homebrew, prototype, and replica cartridges.. Might take some time testing them all.

I’ll just throw in that I would love a 2600/7200 module. For me Breakout and Kaboom really only work with the original paddles.

While I wish Polymega every success, if there is no Atari module at launch, I will not be buying one.  I will wait until the Atari module is released and after that, I may purchase the NES, SNES and Genesis modules.  Atari 7800 compatibility would be a very nice bonus but not a deal breaker for me.  As long as it’s compatible with the 2600 games, homebrews included, I will most definitely be purchasing one.

Now that E3 has passed, please can the Polymega @admin team provide an update on the Atari 2600 module that was detailed when Polymega was still known as Retroblox. Is there any hope ?  Thanks.

There’s something really screwy with the posting this forum. Half the time it doesn’t even post, and other times it shows up later. It could be that their spam filter is too strict.
