Will you support the Sega Dreamcast or the Sega Saturn?
Currently, we are focused on supporting the already announced CD systems which include PS1, TurboGrafx CD, Sega CD, and Neo Geo CD. However, we intend to release software updates after the launch of POLYMEGA™ which will allow more disc-based game consoles to be supported in the future which may include these systems.
When is the Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a means of crowdfunding the development of a product which is at a prototype phase. Since we announced Polymega, when it was a prototype, we raised enough money from private investors and corporations that we won’t need to rely on crowdfunding for development purposes anymore. At this point, we’re going to launch a pre-order campaign “when it’s done”, which may be on a crowdfunding site, or might be through some other means.
How much will the POLYMEGA™ Base Unit cost?
The POLYMEGA™ base unit, which includes one Wireless Controller (Dual Analog Type) will be included in the base package for $249.99
How much will each Element Module cost and will the price vary for each module?
Most modules will retail for $59.99, but there may be some that are released in the future which exceed that price.
Will I be able to play my multi-disc CD games on POLYMEGA™?
For multi-disc based games, you will be able to change them just like the real systems, or you can also install all discs of a multi-disc game to POLYMEGA™ for ease of access and preservation.
Can I support the POLYMEGA™ pre-order campaign and have the system shipped to me outside the United States? Will it come with the necessary power supply for my region?
We will make announcements as to the territories that can support the pre-order campaign as we draw closer to its launch. We will supply the necessary power supply or adapter to play in your region in the box.
Will POLYMEGA™ support Playstation 2, N64, Gamecube or the Wii?
We have no intention of supporting most of these systems at this time. N64 will be supported when we can confirm that it is legally viable to do so.
Will I be able to utilize game cheats or translation patches on my games?
Yes. There are a few different ways to do this which we will provide additional details on before the pre-order campaign.
Will POLYMEGA™ support my original controllers and memory cards?
Element Modules include at least two controller ports on them each, and each of the Element Module sets include a classic controller designed by our team in the box. Multi-taps are compatible as well to expand the number of original controllers you’re using. Players 3+ may also use the POLYMEGA™ Wireless Controllers in conjunction with the wired controllers for games with more than 2 players. Memory cards are not supported for systems that used them, but you can back up your game saves from the cartridge based games, and there will be internal save states available. We intend to support some USB peripherals that will allow you to back up your PS1 games to the system.
Will Everdrives, Game Genies and multi-game carts work with POLYMEGA™?
Yes, since Hybrid Emulation works like the original console, you will be able to use any games and peripherals that work on a real classic console. However, you will not be able to individually install games loaded on to Everdrive or similar devices to the POLYMEGA™ user interface. Please note that games that require light-gun input are not currently supported by POLYMEGA™.
Will POLYMEGA™ support all regions and all formats?
The SNES, Genesis, TurboGrafx-16 and all CD systems will support all regions and all formats (PAL, NTSC, SECAM, etc). The NES module is not compatible with Famicom games since the cartridge edge connector and controller ports are completely different from the North American and European versions. We have announced that after launch we will release a dedicated Japanese Famicom module.
Will I be able to dump my ROMs on POLYMEGA™ and play them?
While the direct importing of ROMs will not be supported, you can bet we want to find alternative, legal ways to bring classic gaming into your living room and respect the copyrights of publishers. In the interest of preservation and reducing wear and tear on your classic games, POLYMEGA™ does allow you to backup cartridge and disc games you own from your personal collection via the console itself. You can play them without having to insert the games or matching module once installed.
Is POLYMEGA™ just going to run Libretro/RetroArch with your own frontend?
We have spent a significant amount of time building our own OS solution, customizing our Hybrid Emulation method and emulators, and building a system that is fully tuned around the performance needs of our platform. Libretro and RetroArch are not used on POLYMEGA™ in any way, shape, or form.
Is POLYMEGA™ 100% emulation?
POLYMEGA™ uses a new method for playing old games called Hybrid Emulation. Its more like 50% emulation and 50% hardware. We will be releasing an in-depth walkthrough of our technology prior to the launch of the pre-order campaign.
Is there a way to get my PS One memory card saves on to POLYMEGA™?
To transfer PSOne game saves to POLYMEGA™, you can use the Official Sony USB Memory Card adapter for PS3 (model number SCPH-98042) plugged into the USB port of the base unit.
Can POLYMEGA™ come to my event?
We have received many requests to attend various retro gaming events all over the world. Please email us at at the contact form on polymega.com and let us know more about your event.
I'm an indie game developer and I'd like to develop for the POLYMEGA™. Who would I contact to find out more info?

Will there be support for 3DO, CDI, FM Towns Marty, GBA, Gameboy, GBC, Amiga CD32, Atari 7800, Atari 5200, Game Gear, Neo Geo MVS/AES, etc
We’d love to support them all on day one but there are many factors that contribute to the feasibility of supporting these platforms on POLYMEGA™. Some of those factors include availability of parts, demand / audience size, legal matters, and more. That said, our goal is to provide support for as many consoles as possible into the future so that gamers of all types can enjoy a modern experience with their system of choice.
