POLYMEGA

As we’ve mentioned in a few other threads, this project is 100% about taking classic games forward into the future. Supporting analogue video out, while obviously possible, would be counter-intuitive to that goal. The end-game answer to support for light gun games will not be supporting analogue video out, instead it will be what others have…[Read more]

Despite being funded, we aren’t in the capital situation to front load the costs of manufacturing and distribution without the pre-orders; so in that regard it won’t be like Nintendo’s consoles where, say, we’ll try a run of 20,000-50,000 units… and depending on those sales then we’ll decide whether to make more or not. Polymega is 100% our co…[Read more]

While we can’t entirely predict the actions of others before they happen, we can say that we anticipate to have, at minimum, enough units manufactured to cover pre-orders and distribution arrangements to retail worldwide. The people most at risk of not getting a Polymega are those who miss the pre-order, then attempt to buy the system, modules, an…[Read more]

  • POLYMEGA replied to the topic HDMI video output in the forum GENERAL 1 week, 2 days ago ·

Polymega supports 1080p HDMI output and currently has two video filters implemented, one for RGB Scanlines and one for a Composite look. It also supports 4:3, 16:9 and pixel perfect video output modes. We may add additional video filters and display modes in the future after launch.

    Zues is exactly right.

In contrast to many retro-gaming oriented products on the market, we are taking the less trodden path for development that does not ride on the backs of the open source community (apart from Linux). Use of popular open source frontends and emulator APIs makes it very, very fast to get to market with a retro game console p…[Read more]

  • POLYMEGA replied to the topic Eject Buttons? in the forum GENERAL 2 weeks, 3 days ago ·

We’ve seen failures to vet this critical aspect of retro systems as a flaw in other products on the market.  While there isn’t a cartridge eject button designed into the module itself, we have meticulously re-created the edge connectors (the point of contact where the cartridge is inserted to the module) with our manufacturing partners to reach th…[Read more]

    Hi Masahiro,

We’re very much hard at work on Polymega, as we have been since its announcement.

It takes a significant amount of time to build a product of the scale we are working towards and as such it will require patience on the part of those of you who are anticipating POLYMEGA’s release. It’s for this reason that we do not intend to take…[Read more]

  • POLYMEGA replied to the topic Please allow Rom/Iso dump in the forum GENERAL 2 months, 2 weeks ago ·

Installing CD games to the system works just like backing up cartridge games. As for the direct loading of ROMs and ISOs from other non-game media, it is not supported (as stated in the FAQ). It’s not about the size of the storage since Polymega supports large-format 500GB SD cards, and there are larger SD cards on the way from manufacturers, it…[Read more]
