No updates to provide yet, Craig except that we’re still on track to release next year.

  • POLYMEGA replied to the topic Any Progress on an N64 Module? in the forum NINTENDO 1 month, 2 weeks ago ·

There are still plans for an N64 module, but we’re not going to be discussing it until later down the line once we’ve already released the system and the first set of modules, which is our priority for now.

  • @Dario – There are a lot of edge cases where special accommodations are made within the module to ensure full compatibility for a particular system. Even though hybrid handles 95% of the games, there are special carts that may not work without unique embedded components. I’m not going to list them out. Also, as Curtis mentioned, the modules are a…[Read more]

  • The expectation that multiple systems on one module should be inherent to our design purely because other products have done it in the past, mistakenly assumes that we are working with the exact same tech as those other products, which we are not.

Thanks for the notes, guys – after the latest round of spam attacks on our forum we’re going to integrate additional protections to the signup process as well as monitoring, which will roll out in the next few days. We’ll also look into integrating a report button to forum users.

  • POLYMEGA replied to the topic Light guns games in the forum POLYMEGA ENGINEERING 1 month, 3 weeks ago ·

Polymega supports HDMI out only, so no CRTs.

  • It will not require an external capture device. Thanks!

  • As we’ve mentioned in a few other threads, this project is 100% about taking classic games forward into the future. Supporting analogue video out, while obviously possible, would be counter-intuitive to that goal. The end-game answer to support for light gun games will not be supporting analogue video out, instead it will be what others have…[Read more]

  • POLYMEGA replied to the topic Pre-order precedence for members in the forum GENERAL 2 months ago ·

Despite being funded, we aren’t in the capital situation to front load the costs of manufacturing and distribution without the pre-orders; so in that regard it won’t be like Nintendo’s consoles where, say, we’ll try a run of 20,000-50,000 units… and depending on those sales then we’ll decide whether to make more or not. Polymega is 100% our co…[Read more]

While we can’t entirely predict the actions of others before they happen, we can say that we anticipate to have, at minimum, enough units manufactured to cover pre-orders and distribution arrangements to retail worldwide. The people most at risk of not getting a Polymega are those who miss the pre-order, then attempt to buy the system, modules, an…[Read more]

Polymega supports 1080p HDMI output and currently has two video filters implemented, one for RGB Scanlines and one for a Composite look. It also supports 4:3, 16:9 and pixel perfect video output modes. We may add additional video filters and display modes in the future after launch.

    Zues is exactly right.

In contrast to many retro-gaming oriented products on the market, we are taking the less trodden path for development that does not ride on the backs of the open source community (apart from Linux). Use of popular open source frontends and emulator APIs makes it very, very fast to get to market with a retro game console p…[Read more]
